Hi Jess, I have been looking on Ancestry with no luck. I believe he must have been born about 1915. Janice, I couldn't find any Les Kirby, so Colchester might be worth a gamble. I am told he divorced her, so that may be another trail to follow. Thank you ladies. TGx

There's a marriage in Q1 1915 of Albert W Kirby to Winifred C Lee in Colchester. Janice

so 1904 was about the earliest he could have married, and you are guessing son was born when?

The only Leslie Kirby born in 1915 was in the last quarter in Colchester, mother's maiden name Lee. (Leslie F Kirby) Janice

Great! it worked. Right then. My nan and granddad were married in 1928, when he was 38 years old. Found out this W/E that he was married before (don't know to whom) and that he had custody of his son Leslie, who was 'about 13 years old' at the time of his re-marriage. So working back from his 2nd marriage I have been trawling for days to find his first marriage - I have failed. So if anyone feels inclined to look, here are the sparse details: Albert William Kirby b1890 Lambeth, London. It is very likely that he married in or around Lambeth. That's all I've got folks. I'll make a Genius badge if anyone can help with this long shot! TGx
