1901 census help please, England and Scotland....

If he is a visitor on one of the censuses, it is possible that he managed to get on both censuses. I have my husband's g g grandmother, together with her son (husband's g grandfather) listed twice on one of the censuses. Once in the household of her husband, where they presumably normally lived, and also in the household of her parents, where presumably they were visiting on the night of the census. You would need to be confident that he had links with both households and check earlier censuses to make sure there is no-one else who would fit the bill as the other person. I gather that this is not uncommon, so there is a possibility that they are both your gt grandfather. Mind you, managing to be in two countries at once is not a bad achievement! Tina

Tricia, Ive just googled and it appears the Scottish dates are the same as the English ones: N:B: Scottish census dates: Exactly the same as England - Scotland had not declared UDI then. Suzanne

were they done in different months? I have my gt,granddad on the 1901 census living in England and also the 1901 Scottish census living in Scotland?? is this possible?? I thought I had the right person when I saw the English one but it is definitely him on the Scottish one, help I am so confused. Tricia
