Family Relatives is good expecially for Marriages 1912-1920 and for Births 1911Q3-1920. For 1866-1920 all the entries are transcribed, but generally it's cheaper (well....FREE) to use Ancestry/FreeBMD to do the lookups for those years, except for the above dates. The good bit for those few years is that for marriages the spouse surname is there and for births the mothers maiden name is there and these are searchable...... So, for this lookup I asked the site for births for surname Offord and with mothers name ....Oh, whatever they were....first one and then the other...!!!!. The results come as a number (''there are three results'' or whatever) and you only pay if you want to see what they are. In this case I didn't!! I also use the site as a check.....say you want to look at all the Frederick Taylor's who died in Wandsworth District between 1870 and 1903. First I would do the lookup on FreeBMD or Ancestry. Lets say there were 20 results. I could do the same request on FR and if there were 20 results I would know everything had been transcribed. One word of warning though....there ARE some errors on FR. I used it to search for a birth and the entry didn't come up. Looked at the GRO pages on Ancestry and it was there. Turned out that the mother's maiden name had been mis-transcribed on FR.....so there's nothing to compare with viewing the pages for yourself, rather than relying on transcriptions.........But still the site is useful and £6 (min sub) lasts three months. It takes me all of that time to use it in dribs and drabs! Merry |

Ah - the WD40 is on the roller skates; that's what I'm doing wrong! Is Family Relatives easier to search than Ancestry then? I've not used that site. Janice |

LOL Janice!! And in order to do the lookup I had to ................ go to the kitchen .............. to find my credit card ........................ so I could buy some units on Family Relatives................... so I could do the lookup !! (not that the lookup actually cost me anything, but you have to have units to do it!!) Merry |

The spouse was probably Florence Maund. There are three birth registrations Offord/Maund between 1912 and 1920 and none for Offord/Stack. Merry |

There are usually 4 names on each page - they are not in any particular order - so you don´t know who married who. So Henry Offord married EITHER Florence Alderson OR Catherine Stack |

Do you know of any children who were born after 1912 as the birth registrations will show the mother´s maiden name. |

Was the marriage in Kensington? If so, bride was either Florence Maund or Catherine Stack. (It's on FreeBMD) Janice |
