maiden name help please

I cant find the marriage of Thomas wheeler born 1859 in Brixton Lambeth and Ellen wheeler born 1867c in Kings Lynn Norfolk. I am trying to find Ellens maiden name is there any other way besides obtaining a marriage certificate(thats if they did marry) that I could find this out. thanks ruth

Hi Ruth Can you provide a little more info - have you found them on the census ? If so where? When and Where do you think they were married ? Cheers...Paul

If you send for one of the children's birth certs the mother's maiden name should be on it under name of mother it should say formerly ...... and give you the name, that's if you can find their births. Good luck Kim

I have found them on the 1901 census. They were both living in Brixton then. Her birth place was given as Kings Lynn and his as Brixton. I also found his birth on familysearch but I cant find anyway of finding her maiden name. Ellen is my g.grandmother but I have no family to ask about this. I do remember my father talking of his granny greenshield (unsure of spelling) but thats all the information I have. regards ruth

This is the family in 1901 Mary Hamilton abt 1890 Middlesex, England Boarder Lambeth London Ellen Wheeler abt 1867 Norfolk, England Wife Lambeth London Ethel Wheeler abt 1890 Surrey, England Daughter Lambeth London Nellie Wheeler abt 1893 Surrey, England Daughter Lambeth London Thomas Wheeler abt 1867 Surrey, England Head Lambeth London They don´t seemed to have moved from Lambeth between 1891 and 1901 so this MAY BE the birth registration for Nellie Nellie Louisa Wheeler Year of Registration: 1893 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar District: Lambeth County: Greater London, London, Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 538
