The original idea behind this technology was for cctv cameras to pick up known criminals - more specifically terrorists - in places like airports and rail stations. Bit worrying that it sounds like we shall all be herded into a police car if they dont fine tune it a bit more! |

I got a 68% likeness to Kenneth Branagh with one photo and a 60something% likeness to Benicio Del Toro with another. I'll settle for that but wouldn't mind 68% of their dosh! |

When we were in Holland a few years ago, the science museum had this going on. When you walked in the door of the museum you were photographed (unbeknown). One of the exhibits was a face recognition machine. You sat in front of it and then the machine went through all the pics of people who had entered the museum and tried to find a match. My youngest son was matched straight away correctly. My eldest had a choice of about three they said matched his face. My husband had one - a teenage girl!! Oh, I didnt do it |

Afternoon all, just popping in to see if any of you have come across the MyHeritage website (http://www.myheritage*com)? Someone told me about it the other day where for a bit of a laugh you can upload a photo and using face recognition techniques it compares your photo with photos of celebrities and tries to detect who you most look like (obviously the results will vary somewhat depending on the photo of yourself that you submit). However having looked at the site further it can be used for genealogy purposes, uploading old photos and associating faces with names. It seems as if it's at a fairly early testing stage at the moment so not sure if it will be of immediate use. Haven't time right now to explore further however have a look and see what you think. |
