Have to larf, just been to that site, entered Dixon and thats come up aswell I wonder how authentic that info is! I may nip back and enter Smith. Blow me, it has nearly every name on my tree on that search? What is that about?

Have to say it doesnt sound Jewish to me - just a variation of Dickson or Dixon. (very obviously son of Dick or Rick in the case of Rickson).

chris and sarah, have looked on the jewish site, rixon is definatly there. well if they were jewish thats a big shock to me. jean

Jean Try this site http://www.avotaynu(.)com/csi/csi-home.html remove brackets. If you enter Rixon in the search facility Rickson comes up as a variation. Chris

can someone tell me where I can get a surname meaning from. have just been informed by o.h. who was speaking to someone, and was told that my ancestors name was jewish. the name was Rixon. way back in 1600s the name seemed to have been changed from rickson. hope you can understand what Im trying to ask. thanks jean
