My distant cousin in America is looking for info about her Great Grandpa - Isaac William Allan Collett - he died March 22,1963 at West Middlesex Hospital, Isleworth (info gained from a copy of his will). He is known to have had at least three sons - John Isaac Collett (Mary's Grandpa) and his two brothers William and Leonard. Mary doesn't know how old Isaac William was when he died - but hasn't found anyone that looks like him on a census. When he made out his will in April 1960, he lived at 17 Hamilton Rd., Twickenham. (The will was witnessed by a neighbour). Hamilton Road seems to have a lot of rented property, so the chances of finding anyone who lived there then is a long shot that Mary is going to explore. Any suggestions for tracking down info about Isaac William Allan Collett welcome - there do seem to be a lot of Colletts in the area!! Thanks!!

p.s. anyone know what the chances are of a death cert containing his age or other useful info? Thanks!!

Of course the death cert will have his age (maybe a few years eithre way if the person who registered it didnt know him that well. Suzanne

The death cert will have the following: When and where died, Name, Age, Occupation, Cause of death, and the informant and where they lived (this could well be a relative or friend/neighbour). Suzanne

Youre welcome Maggie, just a word of warning... going on the 1901 census cant see an Isaac of right age etc and the birth for a John Isaac Collett 1898 seems to have the father John Isaac Collett not Isaac William????? As you say there are a lot of Colletts in the area. Suzanne

Thanks for that - will pass that on. Mary never met great granddad - her Mum was a GI bride, so altho Mary was born in London, she left on a ship for America in 1945. Maggie
