I am looking at George Casey and family at 13 Howard Street. George, Fanny, Thomas, James then James Boarder, Ellen Boarder and sister and the last one?? It is transcribed as 'Flo. Grimshaw Sister, Female, 21, Blackburn, Cotton Operator'. However if you look at the actual census page, first off the MALE box is ticked, not the female, so can't possibly be a sister and I don't believe it says Flo. Can anyone make it out for me pls??

The relationship column says ''do'' (i.e. as above) - but I think that it means the ''boarder'' above, not the ''sister part''! If you look you can see that the word sister has been added on the line above as an afterthought. I think that the name is ''Geo. Grimshaw'' (i.e. George). Richard

Def a male and I think a boarder because boarder has been crossed out in the previous entry after the 'do' has been written under boarder. As for the name - hmmm It looks similar to the abreiviated Thomas above it. Could be abreiviated Geo (George) or Ro (Robert). Sorry not sure really. Anne

Cetainly male, and a 'boarder'. I would agree that the first name is 'Geo'.................George. 1871 census shows one George Grimshaw born c1861 in Blackburn Reg
