My G Grandfather, William John Beaumont born c 1891 give or take a year. I say that so that you will see where I am coming from. I have his marraige certificate to my grandmother who were married on 25/7/1913 and his name was William John Beaumont. His father's name also being William John Beaumont with a profession of Carman! On my mother's birth certificiate again his name is given as William John Beaumont. On his death certificate in 1967 he had a different surname as he left my grandmother and lived with someone else whose surname he took. Don't know much about but for this I don't need to know. As I have just decided to try and go back on the Beaumont line nothing is very clear. I cannot find him on the 1901 census I don't think. There are William Beaumonts but how can I know if its him. I don't know anything about any of his family, and none of my remaining family are old enough to know about him, my mother being dead some years and no other older relatives. Can you give me some ideas as to how I can determine which one is him? Hopefully I have made my query clear but if not feel free to ask me questions. Your knowledge is far greater than mine and hopefully your head is clearer!

any idea where any of this happened? any witness names on the marriage cert that might help?

Oh yes! Marriage was in Shoreditch in London. Witnesses were Emily Beaumont (a sister perhaps?) and Florence Jenkins (never heard of her). My mother's birth was registered in West Ham, London, so I have concentrated on the London area. Thank you.

Here's that family in 1891 in Dalston Hackney Ancestry have it transcribed as Beamon but there's a definite t on the end on the image. RG12/194 folio 103 page 68 Registration district: Hackney William Beamont 36 Head Mar 36 confectioner London Spitalfields Georginia 34 Wife Mar London Shoreditch William J Son 1 London Dalston No sign of an Emily I'm afraid but the middle initial J is promising

Thank you for both for your help. Now that I have two choices I just don't know what to do! More thinking required! Thanks again.
