I must be getting this wrong and as you guys are sooooo good at it i need help again... ive started looking at the other side of my family. i searching on ancestry for Mr George Sharpe born 31 december 1925 in southampton (i think) and Miss Elsie May Cave born May 17th 1921 in Romsey. if anyone can impart their wisdom and tell me how you always seem to find what im looking for (when i cant (even on the exact matches i draw blanks) that would be wonderful thank you

Exact matches very rarely give what you are after. Do the ranked search. They always give results and you just have to go through and check each possible until you find the one you are after. None of us do a search and come up with the answer instantly. Unfortunately this mullarkey all takes time. Don't be so hard on yourself. If you are just starting out, it just takes time to find your feet. Will have a look and see what we can come up with. UPDATE:- Can you tell us any more about these two you are looking for - who are we expecting to find them with or is it a marriage you are looking for or what?? Pls give us as much info as poss.

Found this one - possible George Sharpe Southampton 1927 1st quarter vol 2c p 77 MMN Turner - which means he may have been born December 1926 rather than 1925 - birth has been registered in the following quarter which is what you would expect with a birth on 31 Dec! Again this was found by looking through the complete images (BMDs) on ancestry - just a matter of going through each quarter of each year until you come up with a possible match. Time consuming - but free !!
