I was looking through a tin of my nan's and came across some notice's that were out in the paper when my G.G.Grandmother died. One was the following: Annie Orr died July 1975 Mother of Malcolm and inlaw Edna Gran to Malcolm, Frank, John, Linda and Charles Great Gran to Donna, Liza, Craig and Kerry. Can I take it that Malcolm, Frank, John, Linda and charkes were Malcolm and Edna's children? I know Linda was Craig and Kerry's mother and their father was Allan but I cannot find a marriage between a Linda Orr and an Allan. This is driving me crazy and none of my relatives can remember if they were Malcolm and Edna's children! If anyone can find anything that could support this I would be very very happy... I have looked and looked but cannot find anything! Kimberley |

Are you sure that Linda and Allan actually got married, or could they just have lived together? Or could Linda have been married to somebody else previously, in which case she would have a different surname when she married Allan? As for the children that Annie was 'gran' to, if you really want to be certain you would have to find their births in the indexes to make sure that they all have Malcolm's surname and Edna's maiden name as 'mother's maiden name', as it is theoretically possible that some were Malcolm's children by a previous wife? Kate. |

Hi Kate I didn't think about her not marrying Allan or that she might have been married before! I've been so fustrated with not being able to link anyone I'm not thinking of the alternatives! All the possible births on yorkshire BMD do not match when I cross reference them with the mothers maiden name! |

Well then, I suppose you would have to find Malcolm and Edna's marriage to find out when they got married, and if it is after the possible births of any of the children, see if there is an earlier marriage between a Malcolm Orr and somebody with the surname matching 'mother's maiden name' for that child. Does that make sense? Kate. |

That makes sense... guess it's going to be a long look through marriage and birth records! Thanks for making me see some of the possibilities though. |
