I know there are laws concerning orphans and trying to find family and such like, but do these laws extend right back to the 1901 and 1891 census's. I mean is it possible to actually retrieve a list of occupants of any particular orphanage from any period prior to the 1901 or does the law still protect these identities? Cheers Steve

I shouldn't think so, you can access workhouse records at the county records office and I imagine the orphanage records are the same. nell
