Getting the right family

Apart from buying two marriage certs is there any way I can work out who Sarah Huband married in 1842. I have the possible grooms and checked census and found a Sarah and William Davis and a Sarah and John Campbell. Both William Davis and John Campbell are on the same page with Sarah's marriage. Both Sarahs in the census have possible correct birth dates (1813 and 1820) when she was born 1819. Both have possible place of birth, Stonehouse and East Stonehouse. She was born East Stonehouse. The children don't give any leads on family names. Thanks.

if the one born 1820 is also born East Stonehouse, I would reckon that's the right one. Have you got both ladies on a later census to see if they have different ages/birthplaces? You can always order the marriage cert for the spouse you know is right and leave the other spouse's name blank. nell

Why do you need to buy two certs? Just get the one for YOUR Sarah Sarah Huband Year of Registration: 1842 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Plymouth County: Devon Volume: 9 Page: 399 You do not need to specify the groom, just order with the above GRO ref's

I would go with the one born 1920 in East Stonehouse and hope for the best. Even with the certificate though - how are you going to know you have got the right one?? Do you know her father's name so you can be sure?

I knew I was going mad. Why didn't I think of buying just Sarah's? Must have been having the grandkids all day for Mother's Day. Yes, I do have her parent's names. Thanks.
