Question about the surname Minshull.

Hello, My husband's 2great uncle is named John Minshull Drake and while born in England spent a lot of his life in India. I posted my interest in John on an India mailing list and a lady emailed me saying she also had the surname Minshull as a middle name in several of her families. Both she and I have been unable to find a connection with any Minshull family. I was wondering if any one knows of this surname, and if so, has someone of that surname done something of renown that would make non related families use this surname as a middle name? Thanks Toni

Toni it seems it is a very old Anglo-Saxon name from cheshire. If you Google minshull+origins there is quite a bit of info about the name & also a family crest. Georgina.

Hi My husband's ex wife's husband's sister married into the Minshull family. (Phew!! hope you followed that!! lol). If you PM me with your E-mail address, I will pass it on to her and ask her to contact you and see if there is a connection. She does use these boards so maybe if you do a search you will find her, but I don't know if she uses her proper name or not on here. UPDATE:- I can't give you any info cos I only have a few names and nothing of any significance which is why I said I will pass your details on. I'm not just being stingy and passing you onto someone else cos I don't want to help!! lol
