Here's the marriage you were looking for (I think)........but I can't really help on the other matters (How many William Channings etc) unless you could post the 1861 census details you have for your family. (Maybe also the census details for William's daughter after she becames Mrs whatever......) Anyway: Marriages Mar 1854 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chinning William Plymouth 5b 415 Elford Frances Savery Plymouth 5b 415 Sandry William Henry Plymouth 5b 415 Webb Eliza Plymouth 5b 415 His name just isn't quite spelled right! Hi Merry So sorry - I removed it because I had just that minute found the same marriage as you, and it actually complicates things further! I'm even more convinced now that there are two William Channings (cousins perhaps?) who both had daughters called Mary Ann. Everything pointed to Eliza Webb being the SECOND wife (Eliza nee Bazley died before the birth of my great-grandmother) but going by the dates of marriage records, he married Eliza Webb FIRST. Thanks for your help, would appreciate your opinion, Mandy :) |

Thinking out loud now .... perhaps William Channing the second didn't actually have a daughter called Mary Ann. The Channing families on the censuses could just as easily be the Channing/Webb family. The marriage of William Channing to Eliza Bazley might be something completely separate. Perhaps if I ordered a birth certificate for one of the other children on the censuses, that would confirm their mother, and would also confirm Mary Ann's siblings as being the ones on the censuses. Mandy :) |

Sounds like a good idea.....pick a name where there is only one possible birth reg if you can! Merry |
