Does anyone know if the 1841 census has been fully transcribed for all areas. I have asked for help from members of the GR and they have kindly helped but to no avail. I am wondering if my area has been done yet ie LEIGH LANCASHIRE Regards CAROLE

I believe Ancestry is complete as possible, but as with all censuses there are transcription errors. Because the 1841 didn't list people's birthplaces or relationships to eachother it can be harder to find them. Who are you looking for? nell

don't know if this helps, OH has rellies from that area, we found some in BEDFORD which is now regarded as Leigh itself. Let us know who you are after, Ancestry is name-indexed so its a bit easier than looking at page after page of images LOL

My relies lived in Pennington area of Leigh. But no-one can find them. And I'm having a thick moment what is OH? Sorry Vicky I did not read your full message, I think it's time to go home. Rellies are Wright, Pennington area. The one I am after is Ann (widow) so she may be head but so far two helpful GR members have searched and no luck for Leigh, I'm beginning to think I have made this family up LOL Regards carole

OH = other half (or Old Has-been!) I'm sure I've seen some pages for Pennington, but I'm blowed if I can remember what they are indexed as... Trouble I've found with the 1841 is that they tended to use different names for the parishes.

well, still no luck with Ann, and I've no definite sightings of Elizabeth either (a possibility indexed as Knight) but then we don't know how old these girls are, do we. I'm wondering if 1. mum remarried 2. she's actually dead 3. whether she's with one of the married daughters a little way out of the area we are looking in. have to give up for now, OH is home LOL
