Hi Kerri, Thank you for your generous offer. I'm trying to trace the Australian excursion of my Great Grandad - James Parish, possibly with a middle name of Harnette. He was born in Holloway, London in 1862 and went to Victoria, married and had three sons before returning to London by 1899 prior to the birth of his two daughters. I think I have his passage out to Australia in 1879, arriving Feb 1880 on SS Garonne (non-assisted). His wife's name (in 1901) was Mary (no surname yet), born Melbourne c1866 He had three boys all shown as born in Melbourne: - James Harnette Parish 1888 Henry Parish 1892 Roy V Parish 1894 Harnette was an inherited middle name, passed down over several generations to the boys named James, although I can't find proof of James (1862) having it. It may also be spelt Harnett without the 'e' in some cases. James (1888) was killed in action at Ypres in Belgium in 1917 during WW1. I'm trying to find the marriage, birth and baptism details, plus any help on the return date to UK would also be welcome. Thanking you in advance, Grahame Parish

Hello again Kerri I notice you can also look up immigration records. William Marsh went to Australia with his parents Samuel & Marianne (may be shown as Mary Ann) and his 6 siblings some time between 1852 and 1860. I would love to know any details of their immigration if this is possible. Many thanks, Gerald

Hi Kerri Thanks for your diligent research on Charles Frederick Engle and his father Charles Henry Engle. I have come accross a female by the name of Louisa Wilhelmina Engle who was the daughter of Johann Engle but the name reverts back to Engel for the rest of the children and it doesn't seem to fit. As for the others that you found, they are interesting connections but they don't seem to fit if Charles Frederick was telling the truth on his sons birth certificate about his birthplace and his fathers name. If not I think I am up the proverbial creek. One theory that a genes person came up with was that Charles Henrys fathers family came to England, stayed briefly than went to Australia using German names such as Claus Heinrich Engel and Claus Frederik Engel or something similar. But I just can't seem to get a handle on them which is a bit like a low level persistent toothache which I cant seem to get rid of, you know the story. I appreciate your efforts Regards John Engle from Balmain Sydney

Hi Kerry I would be ever so grateful if you could find any birth records for the children of William Marsh and his wife Elizabeth (probable maiden name Taylor) in Harrow, Victoria, probably between 1860 and 1885.
