Hello, i wonder if anyone could shed some light on this...?? My paternal grandfather was Joe Willam Crossley, born in Halifax in 1871. On his birth certificate his father is William Crossley and it looks like Emma Crossley formerly Murgatroyd for his mum. I have searched high and low for birth , marriage , death and census entries for them but to no avail. Even more confusing, i have a couple of census returns that show a Joe William Crossley, twin older sisters Sarah Ann and Mary Crossley and younger brother Harry Crossley in the Halifax area with William as head but wife's name Hannah Crossley! My dad spoke about his twin aunts when i started this so that checks out ,but he is no longer with us. I really hope someone can help as my mum's side is going great! Thanks Yvonne

Hi, I can't help you with your Crossley search but agree on how many there are out there! I am searching for Crossleys in lancashire- Littleborough to be precise. i believe that some may have lived at Owlet hall farm..anyone know anything? kate

In case you're interested, Crossley's a famous name in Halifax (I used to live there years ago). One of the best-known sights of the town was Crossley's Mill, a carpet factory at Dean Clough, founded by John Crossley. I believe it's now been turned into an arts centre.

i read your posts on crossley's and was wondering if any of you had come across an annie crossley...i know she was living in south newington in 1918 when she had my grandad. the father was named as george dark but i cannot find a marriage for them.There were 2 earlier children so i would guess that they married around 1910 ish if they did marry that is!, so maybe she was born around 1890 ish...i am soooooo stuck. i have found an annie crossley living in lewisham in 1891 and born 1890 but by 1901 they had moved to cornwell and the father ernest was deceased...this could be her i cant verify it at the momentbut she must have moved back to london, her mother was lizzie crossley. Do any of you have crossley that have a connection with south newington london? tracey
