Hiya all, Fairly new to all this and although I have nearly 420 people in my tree, I have found a problem... My Nan's Sister married my Grandad's Brother! (confusing I know)... my question is How do I link my Nan's Sister to my Grandad's Brother in the GR family tree programme?? (I have already entered them in the tree) Its probably a really simple easy question and sorry for asking. I hope you guys and girls can help. Cheers Lee

PAF can be downloaded free from the LDS website. It allows you to do multiple linking within family groups Reg

Hi Lee, PAF is Personal Ancestry File, it's a software programme that you can download free from the LDS (Latter Day Saints) site which is familysearch.org. but if you're going to carry on with this hobby (at 420 already you sound pretty seriously involved!) you would probably do better investing in a programme like Family Tree Maker (FTM) there is a thread on here somewhere by Heather Positive Thinker about all the wonderful things it can do - according to the thread it's £10 to £25. I paid 20 for my 2006 version and I confirm that it's Fab. - and fairly idiot-proof, well, even I can work it! and you can print all sorts of charts too. Much easier to learn than the PAF that I'd downloaded free. Hope this helps Sarah:-)

Its always good to have an offline programme to store your family tree on, you never know what might happen if you just keep it all on GR. Plus then its easy to link up related people who marry like that - I have a brother and a sister who then married a brother and a sister. I also have cousins marrying and men marrying their dead wives sisters. I just merge individuals on my offline tree and then import my GEDCOM file back to GR. Contemplating getting Family Historian 3 though at the mo, got a demo version off Your Family Tree Magazine and I'm quite liking it. I use Legacy at the mo, but will probably go with Family Historian - its apparently the software the peeps use who do the research on Who Do You Think You Are.
