My family seem to disappear off the face of the earth. I hope someone can offer me some shred of hope! lol I'll offer the whole story in the hopes it gives inspiration. Hope you don't get too bored :) My GGGrandmother was born in 1860. She was named Emma Ann Haigh. She was born in Gildersome. In 1879, she had a daughter - Clara Elizabeth Haigh. Clara was born in Dewsbury. In Oct 1881, she married James Siddle (He is a great mystery to me). He was born c1857, somewhere in the country lol They had 2 children: Tedbor Siddle, born 1882 in Heckmondwike Jane Ann Siddle, born 1885, also in Heckmondwike. By 1887, James has vanished, and Emma is with Joseph Crawshaw (not married!). Joseph was born 1851 in Dewsbury. He worked in the textiles. They have at least 6 children: Alonzo Crawshaw, born 6 Oct 1887 in Liversedge. Olive Crawshaw, born 21 Jan 1890 in Littletown. Amanda Crawshaw, born c1891 Robert Crawshaw, born 22 Apr 1893, in Littletown. Ada Crawshaw, born c1896 Norah Crawshaw, born c1898 By 1901, Joseph has vanished and Emma is alone with her children. They are still living in Littletown. Now my problem (if you're still reading lol) I have found the baptisms of Alonzo and Olive in Liversedge Parish Church, both within 6 months of their births. I cannot find any of the others in any surrouding churches. I have check Liversedge, Littletown, Birstall, Gomersal, and Heckmondwike from c1870 to c1910. I have also checked Robert Town, Noristhorpe and Dewsbury today. Can anyone offer me any advice as to what I can do next? Thanks for reading. Tracy in a nightmare :)

What info does the marriage cert to James Siddle say ie fathers name for james and occ? Zoe

Hi I have read your query and wonder if you had tried St Peter's church Hartshead as you do not men tion it? I had an interesting couple of hours a few weeks ago looking at the baptisms, marriages and burials there on the registers at Ancestry as this church has now been added. I live very close to Liversedge Parish Church and I seem to remember there are a few Crawshaws buried there. All the best Jackie

Zoe, I don't have the marriage cert with me at the moment. I'm not at home. However, I believe his father was George, and they were both Dyers. Jackie, thank you. I think I did check Hartshead, but I looked through so many I don't remember lol I have found quite a lot of Crawshaw baptisms on my rounds, but none appear to be from my family :(

Hi There is is birth registration for James Siddle, June q 1850, Auckland, Volume 24, Page 10. Found on freebmd.rootsweb. It does seem to be the only correct name? Any use? Lisa

Thanks Lisa, but I really don't know yet :) He was supposed to be born in 1857. I did find one in 1881, in Heckmondwike, born in Leeds, but he's down as 1854. I think I have traced that one to differents parents, in Pudsey. Just checked the Auckland one - son of John. Oh well :(

I know this is a couple of months late, but I have also been tracing Siddle. In 1851 there was a Siddle family in Stanley cum Wrenthorpe, 60 Eastmoor. Could you possibly be a bit out on the dates. A George is there age 5. Also in 1861 15 Ripley Row Northgate Wakefield. Hope this does not confuse things, you may have found him by now anyway. Denise
