Just thought id let you guys and girl knowe that i found the captain i searched for ,he wasn,t a direct line gt gt gt grandad as first thought , but he was one from a female line , and as it turned out quite a shock , his name captain thomas m hardy , capt of HMS Victory dave

Not wanting to be picky, but if he was your ggg (x?) grandfather, off a female line, he is still your direct line ancestor!!! I thought Thomas Hardy wrote novels??!!!! LOL Merry

This is the line I am searching too. I have 2 Hardy lines from maternal and paternal side. The paternal side is Dorset so trying for that one first (you never know might hit lucky with one of the famous Hardy's) the other from Ringwood, Hants.
Not an easy line, soooo many Thomas's !!
