Hi Rhonda

You won't be able to get a birth certificate from the Dublin GRO as civil registration didn't begin until the 1860's for Catholic's and the 1840's for non Catholics.

The only way to find out more about your Brady family would be to access the Parish Records...but you would need to know where in Co Dublin they lived to be able to do this.,,,or to get somebody else to do it for you.

I've recently hired the services of a researcher to look up some of my Brady family, as I already had marriage certificates and some Birth certs that I obtained from Dublin GRO, so I was able to point him in the right direction as to where they were living at any given point and he found quite a lot of Baptism and marriage records for me.

John Brady crops up in my family tree too a couple of times. The first one, born about the 1848 as he was married in Rathmines Co Dublin in 1868.

My researcher Brian, is in Hospital at the moment so, I'm waiting untill he's well enough to start work and hopefully I shall be contacting him again. He also does some free look-ups..in the Griffiths Valuations and Dublin Trades Directories, so John Brady the cabinet maker might be listed in there.

This is his website...if you want to take a look.

I have a John Brady born in Dublin in about 1832/1834.

Father: John Brady - Cabinetmaker
Mother;Ann Davey

Was married in Australia in 27 Feb 1856 and became a Miner. Any info on a Dublin family would be great, as it is not enough info for the Dublin GRO to find a certificate.

Karen

Karen Report 16 Oct 2007 03:57

Ok - I'm the Karen with the other Brady's in Hull. George Charles Brady (dob & place unknown) married Anne Ware Conyers Hull 1882. Father known as George but deceased on marriage certificate. George Charles was a fisherman & was at sea on the 1891 & 1901 Census. Children: Anne E, Gertrude, Maria, Emma, Susan, Jane, Georgina, George, John Henry. Family legend has an irish connection but haven't been able to trace George Charles on any census records.

List the PARENTS of your 'Brady' ancestor here.... on this link.

Then somebody else on this site might be able to help you enlarge your tree...we all know how difficult it is to trace our Irish ancestors!

Michael Brady & Bridget Conboy...

although on some of their childrens birth certs Bridget's surname looks like CONROY

Hi I have Brady's living in Liverpool but originally from Ireland!! Jane Brady c1834 married Samuel Robinson St Anthony's Chapel Liverpool in 1854. Father of Jane - Patrick Brady - Labourer. Jane was born in Ireland according to all census as was her husband Samuel - could have first lived in DURHAM as one census shows first son born c 1855 there, but another shows Ireland as his birth .

Hi again Teresa! Well if everyone's welcome (lol), there is another lady on this site called Karen who also has Bradys living in Hull in her tree. We haven't yet found a link between our 2 families as Karen's are proving even harder to research. They do seem to be the only 2 Brady families in the area at the time though. So there's another one to add to the list! lol Jeanette x

Jeanette

This is just what I wanted other researches to do.

This might be the only way to find any links!

Keep checking and I'll try and 'nudge' every few days.

Teresa I'm not sure I have a link with Dublin, but I do have some Bradys. It was my Grandma's maiden name. Mine live/lived in Hull in East Yorkshire. Unfortunately my 3x great Grandfather, Joseph, died before the 1851 census and I haven't yet found them on the 1841. His wife was called Mary and they had children William and Elizabeth. Just thought I'd leave their names here incase anyone knows of Bradys that came to Yorkshire. Jeanette x
