Hi Helen
I have leather folders for each branch of my family 8 in all and I put a typed front sheet for each folder.
I put it into the form of a family tree on word/work and then just put in the lines by using a ruler, from the earliest up to the present day.
In some cases there are 2 sheets,I just find this easier to look at when I open each folder.
Good luck
Norma

Hello All

I have am commenting on this old thread as I have been trying to search the boards for help with filing and recording paper documentation. If anyone has up to date information I would be grateful especially the link mentioned "get the family involved" that was on the home page.

Thank you in anticipation

Dear Helen Unless they've changed them recently, the family group record sheets I downloaded from Genes Reunited have room for 10 children. There's a link on the home page in the bottom right hand corner with the title 'Get the family involved' hope this helps Lesley

Many thanks for all your replies everyone and the personal messages. I would like written documentation as well as printed so in time, my descendants would have something more personal to remember me by - that is, if any of them are hit by the genealogy bug that has become an addiction in my life!! Best wishes Helen

I 'customised' the LDS format and used table to make my own template, allowing for 12 children, so I can delete rows if family has less children. Also altered headings to suit me. Bit fiddly setting it up, but can now just paste and copy blank template ad infinitum. Also allows me to move lines and make boxes wider, narrower if I want, according to requirements of each individual family. Save completed ones on computer, so can alter/add to etc Jay

The sheets I got with the Family History Starter Pack allow for 8 children, but you have to write quite small! I've also got some families larger than that, so have recorded on the back too. nell

Hi there I am about to undertake writing up and documenting family group members but find that the sheet in my possession only allows me to record the parents and 5 children at a time. I know it is easy enough to rewrite the parents details again on another sheet, but I was wondering if there was a more comprehensive way of doing this. Can anyone recommend a better family group record sheet or in fact another system? Your ideas would be much appreciated. Best wishes Helen
