Paul I was unaware that Ancestry had this site, I thought it had been discontinued. However, for folk researching the police, information about the Met is at Kew and this is the Nat Archives research pages about them: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=104 This gives information about individual police records, police forces and a wealth of other records - photos and plans of police stations, crime reports etc. There's also a link to the Transport Police Records at Kew. YOU WILL HAVE TO GO TO KEW TO LOOK AT THE ACTUAL RECORDS, this is just a guide to what there is and where to find it. City of London police records: Corporation of London Record Office, PO Box 270, Guildhall, London, EC2P 2EJ (Tel: 020 7332 1251). nell |

Once you've found the warrant number you can look him up at Kew and find out how tall he was, how much he weighed etc. nell |

Hi all You can search for past members of the Metropolitan Police in their data base via this website: www.policeorders.co.uk. Go to the left column and press on search db. You then can enter last name or warrant numbers to bring up details of their basic career sheet (ie stationed etc). I have found great great uncle and auntys grandfathers career details here. Happy searching |
