I would also like to warn members about Mr John O sullivan who uses the email address teachinjos Mr O Sullivan without my permission, published details on various websites on the internet some of my early research into the Hargest and Bindoff families.Which happened after I allowed him access to my family trees, which I had formally posted on Genereunited.Since that time, I have tried to contact him many times asking that he either cites my work correctly as being attributed to the Hargest and Bindoff One Name Studies or to have the good sense to remove it, which he still has refused to do. As from subsequent research I discovered I had made a number of mistakes, in my intial research. So some people may be confused. As I am now in posession of all the documents that where originally used, and have far more extensive research behind me.I am able to correct those early mistakes. While the whole idea of sites like Genereunited is to share information to mutual advantage is to be applauded.Good genealogical practice is to site sources correctly this is something Mr O Sullivan does not have the courtesy to do, and will claim any work that you allow him to see, as his own work, which he will then post up on various websites around the internet just to bolster his numbers. Hallo, this is both an offer of assistance and at the same time an appeal for help, for anyone researching their Hargest or Hergest ancestry ,I would like to hear from anyone who may have either a Hargest or Hergest or Hargist relation in their family tree or from any other Hargest,Hargist,Hergest families worldwide wishing to know more. As for the last few years I have been doing a Guild of One Name Study researching the Hargest/Hergest family history. My own interest in the Hargest name stems from my mother's line whose ancestors I've currently managed to traced to the early 1700's in Herefordshire.I have also have researched other Hargest/Hergest lines in Powys in Wales,America,Canada and New Zealand. So far as part of my study,I have indexed and transcribed all the registered Hargest's/Hergest/Hargist (and variations) Births,Marriages and Death records held at the General Record Office for England and Wales, since 1837 to the year 2005.I also have every Marriage certificate for every registered Male and Female Hargest /Hergest marriage, that was held between the years 1837- 1911 in England and Wales.Where ever possible I have tried to research at least 2 generations, both backwards and forwards in time of any female Hargest/Hergest spouses lines who married between that time frame. With this combined information I now, know how nearly all the present day Hargest/Hergest's are related,From these records I have compiled a number of Family trees. So I will probably know more about your great great grand parents, then you may possibly know.I also know who and when various Hargest/Hergest families emmigrated to other parts of the world. To be as accurate as far as is possible,I try to adhere to the Genealogical Standards of Professional Genealogists.By cross referencing all the individual entries I have found with all known parish records, probate and monumental inscriptions etc and have used all available census records both here in the United Kingdom (starting from the 1841 census right up to the last available one in 1901) and also in other countries such as Canada, America etc. Taking on a project of this magnitude, is not an easy task or cheap. So if you can offer any help I will be happy to hear from you, on condition that it is reciprocated and acknowledged. I have also created a Hargest message board on rootsweb for anyone interested in the Hargest/ Hergest names. The address is http://boards.ancestry(.)com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=surnames.hargest Best regards Adam of the Hargest One-Name Study registered with the Guild of One Name Studies 4334 http://www(.)one-name(.)org(/)profiles(/)hargest.html
