Sharron is still around - not sure if the other posters are. After all, the last time this thread was added to was in 2005.

One of the posts refers to Northumberland Record Office where the Estate papers were kept. That may the best place to start.

Did anyone find anything on Crofton House Titchfield as my family owned it and I would like to know more. Any photographs of the house or cottage/Lodge house.
I could help with some information and I have a photo in the late 1950's

Kim Just looked on A2A and they list one catalogue for Crofton House. The Estate papers are held by Northumberland Records Office - there are some restrictions, but the Estate papers seem to cover the time period you want. Good luck Marjorie

Kim When I am in our local Library tomorrow I will see what I can find. Crofton is quite a large area, so the Estate must have belonged to a notable family. Jim Saluting smartly but refraining from calling you Ma'am.

Kim,the name Buddle appears in the Sidlesham registers in the 19th century.I think one actually married into a branch of my family but I have not yet looked very deeply into it as it is a line I have not followed so it is not on my tree yet.

Think my James Buddell worked there! after 3 years, this is my biggest break through, but can't find anything on this house. 1871 census, James Buddle, coachman ( his profession in 1858) was employed there, if it's him, then where do I go to confirm? Thanks Kim
