I am trying to obtain my g grandfathers death registration. I have the film number for the index and full details of the person I am looking for. If anyone can locate the death registration for me, I will reciprocate with a certificate from the UK. Thank you |

Hi Carol, Just wondering if you have had any success getting the death certificate for your g granfather, James FLEW. I live in London, but I'm originally from Kingston and can get you the obituary if there was one next time I head home. Also, I should be able to get the details of the death certificate from my local LDS library. Let me know. sheila j London, ON CANADA |

Hi Carol, Just to add to what Pippa sent you: The burial was in Cataraqui Cemetery, (pronouced 'Cat-ar-au-quay') which is located on Sydenham Rd., in Kingston and is a very large cemetery and is very well maintained. It is the burial place of our first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald. The cause of death was 'vascular disease of the heart' and the duration was 'several years'. Also there was no surgery done or autopsy performed. Let me know if you want the obituary, which would have been published in the Kingston Whig Standard. I won't be able to get it for a few months, but will add it to my 'to do' list for when I am in Kingston. Sheila j |

Hi Carol, I have sent you this offlist as well, but here is the obituary for your great grandfather, though they spelled his surname incorrectly. The Daily British Whig, Thursday, February 10, 1920, pg 11 OBITUARY The late James SLEW (should be FLEW) James SLEW passed away on Thursday morning at his residence, Chatham Street, after an illness extending over a year. The deceased was born in England and was 65 years of age. He came to Kingston with his family 8 months ago. He was a street car conductor. Those surviving are his wife, 5 daughters, Mabel, Annie and Elizabeth, Kingston; Gertrude, Cobourg*; and 2 sons, James in the British Army in Mesopotamia and John at home. The funeral takes place to Cataraqui Cemetery Saturday. Adjutant Goodhue officiating. *I only count 4 daughters so I don't know if I missed one in the transcription. Sheila j |
