Many thanks to everyone who got back to me so soon with info.In answer to the replies WilliamSandford born 1846,Annie/Honor born 1854, William/Michael born 1881 and Catherine born 1886.I have found them in 1901 living in West Derby and am now trying to find them in 1891 and 1881. They only married in 1885 in Liverpool and their addresses them where Knight st. and Roscoe St. but they had their son in 1881.Any help or suggestions would be great. Many thanks, Kim

Shame there are so many William Sandford but on FreeBMD there is a William Sandford married to Annie O'Hara in December quarter of 1885 Liverpool. I guess this is the Annie you are searching. The one thing that I would find strange is that after the birth of a son in 1881 they waited another 4 years before marrying so I ask you whether you have the birth certificate of the 1881 birth ? and then no more children until the arrival of Catherine AFTER the marriage. When William was born Annie was already 27 years old - William was 35 !! by the time of the marriage they were 31 and 39 ! Now the possibilities are : a/ that events occurred as you have stated b/ William was married previously and the the wife died after the birth of William in 1881 c/ Annie was previously married and her husband died after 1880 d/ Annie had a child in 1881 with an unknown father. IF you have the Marriage Certificate in 1885 is Annie shown as Spinster or ?? she could have married in the name O'Hara which could have been a name from previous marriage - or are you confident that it was her birth name ? and 'confident' will only be established IF you find the birth certificate of 'William' - or as you have written 'William/Michael'. To be frank I would only be satisfied with ONE name - William or Michael, unless he was William Michael .... and same goes for Annie - I think the Honor was her second name or did not exist at all in registers despite what censuses show. Bear in mind that censuses are a tool to finding births, marriages and deaths but should not be regarded as fact - only certificates are the ultimate proof.
