I think it will be them. Don't forget that the spellings of Michael's surname are just English renderings of an Irish surname so there is no reason to expect it to be consistent! Do you know if they could read and write? I have especially found multiple spellings of names for those of my family who couldn't (if you have a marriage or birth certificate look to see if anybody put 'X' his / her mark). Kate.

Hi everyone, I have a marriage Sarah corcoran (16) and Michael Garraty (23) married in 1849 in leeds. On the 1851 census They are living with sarah's parents in leeds But there surname has changed to gerughty or geraghty and they have there first child john aged 11 months. As of yet I have not been able to locate them on the 1861. 1871 i have found these. Sarah Gerraghty 40 born leeds Michael 45 born ireland which is correct. Catherine 3 Mary ann 9 Michael 7 months Sarah Ann 13 Thomas 6 All living at gouldens or goulders buildings Leeds. Her parents lived here some years ago but at a different number. Are these my family? To me it appears so, would like your opinions please. If only the surname would stay the same!! If so where are they in 1881 AAARRGGGHHHH Many thanks everyone xx
