Burial Registers

Thanks Nell They are the burial records from civil cemetaries, apparently they have had Heritage Lottery funding and filmed cemetery records. The nice man on the phone did ask if I wanted to look at those or the parish records for a particular church. I have tried phoning and emailing my cemeteries department in the past to get a plot number and am still waiting. I found this info on the Council website and thought it would be quicker to go and look it up myself! Sam

Sue If its a parish burial register it will probably just be people buried in the churchyard. The only entries I've seen just give the name and date of burial. Cemeteries tend to have their own records which you can find out about by checking the local authority website. Some of them even have online searchable databases which give you the grave number. nell

I'm very excited, I have just booked a computer at my local Archives centre to look at the burial registers and hopefully find where my rellies are buried. However, in my excitement I forgot to ask what info will be there for me to see. Do the burial registers just give the date/cemetery in which folk are buried or will I actually get a plot number so I can go and find the grave? Has anybody else ever searched burial registers and can give me an idea? Thanks Sam
