Sorts of questions to ask: Where are your Linksons in England? Do you have a stray William? Any idea what he did for a living? What was happening in Adelaide at the time? Devon newspapers of the 1850s are full of farmers selling up and advertisements for ships sailing to the colonies. In the 1840s, several relatives were assisted to emigrate to Canada. Details for this appear in parish records and MH12, held at the National Archives at Kew. Contemporary newspapers for Adelaide or a history for the town might suggest the sort of migrants that were welcome. Are there any Linkson researchers in Australia? Happy hunting.

Trying to find out how a William Linkson managed to get over to Adelaide in or around 1850s. I have tried various websites over the years to find out to no avail. Just had some more info on him thats reminded me of the search so i thought i would put you good people to the test to help me solve this ongoing mystery. If i can establish this then i will be related to every Linkson in Oz!!
