If you found the birth reference on 1837online, and nowhere else, it is probably because 1837online is the only complete index of births, marriages and deaths which are online (as far as I know, anyway). Kath. x

Ooops sorry for confusing everyone! I hadn't considered emigration or change of name! They originated in Ireland so she could have gone back there I suppose, although judging from the info I have gathered so far the family all seem to have stayed within the same area.....even to this day!! not a very adventurous lot :) Thanks for the help............Ann x

Aha! You said FamilySearch in the beginning which is what had us all confused. If it is FamilyRelatives, I am beginning to understand. FamilyRelatives supposedly has a complete index to the names in the year range 1866-1920 or something like that, but it's certainly possible that they missed one out. They used the same original indexes that you see on 1837 anyway so if you saw it on 1837 you can believe it! It might be worth asking FamilyRelatives why it is missing from their site and maybe they will refund you some credits for your trouble. Also, perhaps she could have emigrated or changed her name? Kate.

Thanks Kathleen............What I am trying to do is research my BMothers family.....I have found all the sibling births + subsequent marriages...except Hilda...........I have drawn a blank......no deaths, marriages....I can't believe she is still living as I have checked the electoral roll.......... If she is , then I don't know how to find her!! :( I was puzzled as to why the birth was on one site and not the other as I Thought Family rels site was fairly accurate! Guess I am gullible eh!

If you found the birth reference on 1837online for Hilda, what is it you are unsure of? What are you trying to find out about her? Kath. x

Thanks for the replies............I think I am having a senior moment!! Obviously a still birth wouldn't be in the births!! doh I was thinking along the lines of her only surviving for a short while..Like I said I am befuzzled!! :)

Ann, Sorry but I don't really understand your question. Surely if you found it on 1837 it WAS registered? Also, you can't expect the data on FamilySearch to be complete. Kate

Hi Ann I don't think there's much on familysearch dated later than the1881 census unless someone has researched the family and submitted the information. Heather

If you've found it in the index for births, it wouldn't be a stillbirth. Kath. x

Stillbirths are handled differently to the 'normal' ones. I don't think they put them on the standard GRO register. Stillbirths Obtaining Stillbirth Certificates Due to the sensitive nature of stillbirth registrations, the procedure for ordering a certificate of the entry differs from other types of certificates. We will only send out the application form after we have been contacted by phone or in writing by the mother or father (if he is named on the certificate). In cases where the parents are deceased, a brother or sister can apply if they can provide their parents’ dates of death. The cost of the certificate is £7. Sorry my original queston was a bit confusing...I'll start again! I found a birth on 1837 site, microfiche files .. Hilda Woodriff 1910............I couldn't understand why I can't find a reference to it anywhere else.... I got a list from Fam Rels + it wasn't on that...........I checked other spellings. Thanks Ann
