Thanks Peter! That explains where my email went. Helen, ugh - I wish someone would explain it to me like I'm an idiot, because. yes, those d*mn buttons are misleading! I felt like a mouse in a maze. GRO - please fix it! The summary should tell you exactly what ref check(s) you have asked for.

Sam I did the same as you last month, but didn't go ahead with the order. I emailed the GRO to query it and got a phone call back. (Apparently other people have also commented to them on this, and they are considering changing the wording - a slow process!). As far as I understood the GRO representative, if you want checks on just the one GRO reference, there will be no indication at the end of the order process. It will only show '1' or '2' etc. on the number of checks, if you offer (an) alternative GRO reference/s. Hope I have managed to explain this clearly! Helen

Sam - if you email them you have to put GQ in the subject line, otherwise it gets lost in cyberspace - then they reply in two or three days Peter

One of the certs I'm ordering has actually worked and is showing 1 ref check. A couple of months back I ordered 2 certs with x ref-ing. Both did not match the ref, but they sent them anyway/ I emailed about the error - received no reply.

Hi Sam, I experienced something similar. I requested a couple of checks and was given no indication at the end of the process that my request had been excepted. I decided to go ahead anyway. When the certificate came (it was the right one) they also attached another sheet with all the references I'd asked for. Not much help to you but I've taken it that the system works even if it doesn't appear to have done! Jill

Im not that sure - they usually check the first name on a cert anyway, dont they. Do you have to check the price box for a reference check?

What am I doing wrong? I select type of cert giving full GRO, Year, Names etc. I want to reference check with the father's name. I select 'Reference Checking'> I type in the father's name> bottom of screen has 3 buttons Submit Reference Checking Continue with Application I select 'Submit' >my basket appears with cert details all correct EXCEPT '0' appears in the reference checking column, when it should read '1'. Help?! Sam
