I know the feeling! All hubbie's side had servants and were either military or blsh blah employing so many men with acres of land. Mine are cotton spinners, ag labs or in prison! Lou |

Thanks Lou - I'd like to think there was some scandal but it looks unlikely as she admitted to being 'under age'. I feeling a bit raw since receiving 3 marriage certificates for hubby's side all 'gentlemen' and 'esquires' whilst the one I got for my side showed him as illegitimate and son of a labourer - hubby is crowing! |

Karen Full age meant over 21 but girls could marry at 12 and boys at 14! They SHOULD have had parental permission to marry under 21! Lou |

Have a marriage certificate where the bride's age is written down as 'minor'. What age made them 'of full age'? Did this mean they had to get parental permission to marry? Karen |
