joseanne, just been to avast page---looks good, i'm not to impressed with norton at the moment! and i've had it since i got my pc 2 years ago, i've saved the page and i'll have a good look at it tomorrow. i've also installed spybot, i did have adaware but have un-installed that now, i also have zone alarm, so i don't know how anything can get on!! and i have spyware blaster but to be honest i can't see what it does! thanks for your help everyone. Chris.

we had a very nasty virsus last year and nortons didn't even recoginise it. we ended up having to have pc rebuilt. Once you are sorted with your problem chance your antivirus I would recommend 'Avast' you can download it free but have to uninstall nortons first. google avast and see the site. also its worth getting a firewall as already mentioned and spybot. Hope someone can help you

Trojan horses often come in if you do a lot of browsing on the net. You need to get rid of them because they are a kind of spy programme. If an alarm has come up then you have been infected. But don't panic. It will probably only slow down your computer though some Trojans are more than just a nuisance. I use Adaware to do regular scans and I now use AVG anti virus (which we find better than Norton and it's free). If you need to remove a virus or trojan and it isn't done automatically by Adaware then you can often find out how to on a number of sites. This is a useful site to go to with advice. http://securityresponse(.)symantec(.)com/ (remove brackets) While on the subject of viruses and trojans beware of the hoaxes that go round and round with monotonous regularity. Never forward the dire virus warnings.........There are interesting sites about all the hoaxes on the net. Here are a couple. http://www(.)symantec(.)com/avcenter/hoax(.)html http://www(.)trendmicro(.)com/vinfo/hoaxes/hoax(.)asp

Chris I'm always getting the pop up messages telling me that I have such a virus or have spyware, yet none of my security systems can ever detect anything there so I remain clueless too! Lou
