Going to the Genuki website and following links relating to the poor law, it looks as if the workhouse was in Calne itself. The records should be in Wiltshire RO.

Hi everyone I just wondered if anyone could help with an address. Ive found a possible rellie in a poor house in calne. Jane Hendon 35 born abt 1836 compton bassett. she is listed in the 1871 census in calne as pauper inmate. rg10/1901 folio 44 page 3. I scroled back to page 1 which is the start of the house i cant make out the writing in the left margin also there is a possible place name above the box at the top of the page above the box local board any help in finding the area this poor house is in will be very very much appricated Regards Simon
