2nd marriage question

if my ancestors husband's died and she remarries - will it just the one surname on the GRO index (not married & maiden?) |

oh a quick other question does she have to put down both names on marriage certificate? (eg Kate Rimmer formaly Tyrer) |

Strangely, although on birth certificates, if the mother is on a second marriage, it should state both her previous names (eg Harriett Thorowgood, late Goodenough, formerly Hobbis for one of mine) on the second marriage certificate I've always found only the previous married name given - in the above example Harriet's second marriage certificate lists John Thorowgood bachelor and Harriet Goodenough widow (but her father's name was given as Tobias Hobbis which helped!)
