There is always 1837online ! OR Faversham library should have the record if you know the parish, similarily the Records Office in Canterbury which is situated in the Cathedral - tell the person on the gate that you are going to the Records Office or you will have to pay as a visitor to the cathedral - then make for the cloisters.

Have you tried http://www.kent.gov.uk/living/marriages/certificates-links.html It's not as user-friendly as some of the Local BMD sites, but it does allow searches. I had a bit of a look without finding anything, but you might spot something useful, if you look for yourself - even if it isn't what you're actually looking for! Christine

Fern in the words of Winston Churchill, never, never give up!!! I note from Genuki's list of registration districts that Whitstable came under Blean registration district, and that the registers are now held here: If you contact them they may be able to find the cert. Not all cert copies got to the GRO for indexing. Canterbury with Swale Wellington House, St Stephen's Road, Canterbury, CT2 7RD. Tel: 0845 678 5000. E-mail: canterbury.register-office[ATSIGN]kent.gov.uk Alternatively, you can see if there is a copy in the parish marriage registers. nell

I have been trying to search a marriage of Henry Humphrey and Mary Jarrett. Their first child was born 1849 in Whitstable, Kent so I'm guessing they married before then. I have search Free BMD, Ancestry which no luck. Tried looking at all marriage from 1837-1850 just in Whitstable with no names matching either of mind. Tried different spellings of names. Just about ready to give up. So if anyone could give me some advice what to do next please let me know. Fern.
