June The PRO is now TNA [the National Archives] details of their search services and fees are here: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/foi/research.htm info about changes of name here: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/familyhistory/name/ But remember people did not have to change their name by deed poll (or put it in the London Gazette). They could just call themselves something else, provided they were consistent and not doing it to defraud or deceive. nell |

I have just read that there are some records of change of name, 1760 to 1901, at the PRO. Does anyone know if the PRO will deal with postal requests, or the phone number of the PRO, please? June |
