The address on her birth certificate is 74 Birley Street Pendleton and her father's occupation is shown as Dock Labourer so yes Kate, that piece fits my jigsaw......lol Carol

Also, what occupation does it give for her father on the birth certificate? The Charles at Ewart Street was a docker, would that be right? Kate.

If I am correct about Charles and Emma, they were married in 1890, I found an Emma Bennett in London on the 1891 census whose relaionship was described as servant. I think I am clutching at straws now!! Carol

Status and employment are two diff. things. If married it should say so in the box. Do you want me to have a look and see if i can find a match in 1901? What was her name? Jess

Before I go off and order a certificate just wondered if anyone has any suggestions please. My maternal grandparents names were Charles & Emma Bennett (nee Wright). My grandmother was born in Pendleton Salford in 1899. I've checked the 1901 census and found the only Charles and Emma Bennett living in Salford and shows then as being boarders @ 21 Ewart St Pendleton. Problem No. 1 - No sign of my grandmother at that address, nor of her siblings (Daisy Emma, Elsie and George) who I believe were older than her. So where are they?? Problem No.2 - From the 1901 census, it seems that my G. Grandparents were born in LDN Middlesex and here comes my problem. I have searched and searched the 1891/1881/1871 censuses to try and link them but to no avail. One last question, if someone was married and worked as a servant, would their status on the census be shown as married or servant? If that makes any sense! Thank you ........Carol
