I took out a 72 hr subscription several months ago and was dissappointed, because I was researching a fairly common name, their free search looked like there would be loads of matches but none of them were mine. HOWEVER, they emailed this week to say that they had 3 counties 1841 census & I have tried again - the 1841 census is fantastic & really worth the £5.95 for 72 hrs - I have found houses full of relatives & I'm really chuffed. If you can find who you are looking for on there it is worth it, and you can do a free search on first name and surname before subscribing to see if it will find anything, but you do have to rely on their transcription for searching everything as you can't use wildcards in the names you are searching on like you can on ancestry. If you want to look at the 1841 census for the three counties they have up at the moment (Gloucestershire, Cambridgeshire and Devon) or if you have ancestors from London I would say it may be worth a go, but remember there are no births or christenings on there and some of the databases have so little info for each entry that it can be impossible to tell if it is your ancestor or not! If you do one of the 72-hour subscriptions, make sure you look everything up that you want to in the short time you have before it expires! Kate.

Does anyone use this site, has it been useful? Just been having a look, without paying, you understand, thought it could be good, but is it worth the money? Suex
