The Death Index on Ancestry and 1837online can be very useful for people born after 1901 because if they died after 1984 then you can get their date of birth from the Death Index. It is fully indexed so easier to use than they earlier ones. MB

What part of the country are you looking at? Certain counties have their own BMD sites that do go past 1910. Try www.ukbmd.org.uk, on the left hand side you can choose the county you need and then it will give you a list of related sites (if there are any other than the pay per view ones already mentioned). I've been lucky, most of the counties my family have been in so far have a dedicated BMD site. Sam

familyrelatives.org or 1837online. These are the only places you'll find info after 1910 online. They are pay-per-view, but very useful.

Yes, Freebmd stops at around 1910 at the moment, though new records will be added as the volunteers get them done. Your options now are either a) pay online at www 1837online com OR b) look in the marriage registers big books at the Family Records Centre in Islington -free c) look at the indexes on microfiche in a library or records office near you - should be free Unfortunately you can't just put the name in and get results, you have to go through every quarter of every year until you find the right reference. good luck nell

my great grandfather was born in 1912. i know both his parents surnames but can't find marriage records later than 1910. i've tried freebmd and ancestry and they only seem to go to 1910.any ideas?
