Hi I have found a great site for people researching the East End of London. www(.)eastlondonhistory(.)com I have been on it for over an hour now, it's got so much info on areas my ancestors lived and worked. Sandra

Sandra Thanks, I've added it to my favourites for when I have more time to read it. There seems to be a lot of info on London generally too, ie cholera epidemics, etc. nell

Thanks very much, Sandra. Since every line seems to lead back to the East End, I'll be sure to find this useful! Did you see my tip about the Old Bailey site last week? Put 'Old Bailey' into the search feature on the tips page, and you should find the thread. Sue (in NZ)

Sue I did know about the Old Bailey site, but hadn't been on it for ages. After reading your reply, I had another go, and yes, I think I have found one of mine. The name is right, so is the age, according to the report he was 19 at the time of the offence in 1802. The crime seems about right too, he stole an ass (he was a gypsy) He was confined to 6 months in the House of Correction, and was publicly whipped. Sandra

That's great news, Sandra. About finding him, I mean. Not the whipping! One good tip deserves another! Sue (in NZ)
