Anybody know how to order a Swiss birth cert? I have the DoB and region (canton) but do not have the parents names. Thanks Karen

You can write to the Registry Office but you may have to preove that you are a direct descendant - or you could try writing to the church of the town for an entry from the Parish Register. I believe the Swiss work along the same lines as the Germans (and other Euro countries) and you may be able to buy a book (sometimes in CD format) - the Ortsippenbücher and this may be your best way out as it will give facts about the ancestors. www(.)genealogienetz(.)de/genealogy.html Incidentally I hope that you know the twon or village where the event took place.

Joseph Thanks for the guidance. I know the location of the birth (Crissier nr Lausanne, Canton:Vaud). The family history library holds records for Crissier up to 1875, however the individuals I need were born after this date. Am actually related via marriage to the individuals I am researching. Looks like I will have to put this lot temporarily to one side along with my Irish ancestors. Thanks again Karen
