Hi, Sorry, had to disappear a bit quick last night, developed a very sudden migraine. Been out all day at mother's. Heather, I tried exactly that, deleting the files one by one, but most of them, came up with a message box, saying 'Nothing to do'??!! What's that all about then? Judy, Thank you, will try your suggestion tomorrow. Sounds like I need to be really 'with it' when I try that excercise. With thanks Debbie

Fist download and install a program like ADAWARE - a free program you can find by doing a google search for.....there are 2 versions, one you pay for, one is free....the free one works great. After installing, check the program for updates. Next, start your PC in SAFE MODE. Go into your PROGRAMS folder (START, MY COMPUTER, C DRIVE and then click open the PROGRAMS folder.) Locate the PRECISION program, place your mouse over it and RIGHT click on it.....sometimes these programs have their own UNINSTALL (opposed to being able to remove it using your PC's ADD/REMOVE feature.) If it has it's own uninstall you'll see the option in the drop down box that appeared when you RIGHT clicked on PRECISION. If it does not have it's own UNINSTALL, RIGHT click on the PRECISION folder and delete it. While in SAFE MODE run ADAWARE and quarantine whatever it finds. Reboot and the program should be gone. See the TIPS board, '1 Stop Routine PC Maintenance' for easy directions on starting in SAFE MODE as well as a link for the ADAWARE program. After running ADAWARE and before you remove what it finds, check to see what .exe programs it has found. Any .exe files should be removed manually using your PC ADD/REMOVE feature and if that method fails, remove as above. These are programs that generate the junk that causes the pop-ups. Spyware/Adware removers, like ADAWARE, SPYBOT, &CCCLEANER to name a few, remove the generated junk, not the actual programs that cause them.....to get rid of the pop-ups you need to remove the cause. Ive found things like that when I have used start, search files, then the name of the program. It brings up all the components of the program and you can delete them one by one. The only other thing I would suggest is you download the free CCleaner (google for it) they takes off all bits of left over programs etc. It makes your puter run really fast after you use it but make sure you use the options to move sites where you have passwords and so on over to the approved side.

Hi Bob. It's called PrecisionTime. I think my daughter downloaded it some time ago. Anyway keep getting 'Gains' pop ups all over the place, driving me mad. Gain is automatically installed with PrecisionTime. Gains gets past Norton, Spyware and Adaware, because it's installed i guess?? Anyway Symantec have a remove thingy, which keeps crashing at the same place, tried it three times! Gain says uninstall the soft ware from Add/Remove. There is nothing remotely like it there. Have searched for all files containing PrecisionTime, there are lots, but none that look like uninstall. Debbie

How do I uninstall a program that has no uninstall feature and does not appear in the list in Add/Remove programs?? On their own webiste, the uninstall instructions are to do it through Add/Remove software, but it is not there!! It's driving me and the PC round the bend - must get rid of it quick! Debbie
