Dear Valerie I hope you haven't spent ages on this. I've just had another look and found them as Wilkinson! I know it's them because they're at the same address as in 1881. Thanks for your help. Maggie

Bernice has already had a look for me and couldn't find them but here goes: Watkinson William b. 1836 in Shoreditch Mary Ann, wife, b. 1831 Shoreditch Thomas John, s, b. Q1 1861 in Shoreditch William Garnham, s. born Sep 1864 in Shoreditch Mary Ann, d, b. Nov 1866 in Shoreditch Charlotte Caroline, d, b. Oct 1868 in Shoreditch (I think she died young) Charles James, s, b. Oct 1869 in Shoreditch William senior has been recorded on other censuses as being born in Finsbury and Holloway which I think is a mistranscription of Holywell, which is a place in Shoreditch. Mary Ann, wife, has been recorded as having been born in Islington. William senior was a cooper at first and then a general labourer. Good luck Maggie

I've found my Watkinson family on the 1861, 1881, 1891 (found by someone else - thanks) and 1901 censuses in Shoreditch and Mile End (1901). They've been listed as either Watkinson or Walkinson. I cannot find them anywhere on the 1871 census. I've tried Watkins, Watson, Wadkinson, Wathinson, Wackinson, Wakinson and Watkynson. Does anyone have any ideas about what to try next? Thanks Maggie
