Hello Gary,Jeanette,Barbara,Matt,Dianne and Valerie, Thank you all so very much for your help the teamwork was most appreciated and brought the reults I needed. I now have something to work backwards with. My grandfather always said the statue was a relative and his name was also William Edwin. So the statue was my great great uncle. Do any of you know anything about Sir Arthur Sullivan cos he is my next quest(only joking)!!!!!! Enjoy the rest of Easter and thanks once again. Brenda

Just a Theory. found William Edwin Harvey, 49, miners agent, who is listed as Chesterfield M.P. in Kellys Derbyshire 1912, he is married to a Harriet, now traced them back as far as 1881 census, as William Edwin, now on the 1871 census there is no William or William Edwin, listed born Hasland/Chesterfield, but there is the Edwin, with mother Elizabeth, whom is your Johns mother and Edwins on 1861, so i think as a child the family called William Edwin just Edwin and he started adding the William back when he became the head of his own Household, to further strenthen this view, i have looked at all Harvey births between 1851 and 1854 and the only chesterfield born one in that time is William Edwin, oct quarter 1852, 7b,435 and nobody with just the name Edwin, so i think William Edwin Harvey M.P. is your great great grandad John's younger brother. William Edwin Harvey married Harriet Hollingsworth in the dec qarter 1871. Just a Theory can send you all images if you need

without looking again but knowing the area very well i think you will find it is Callow Lane. looking through my 1841 disc (will look at the 1851 at the Library) found at Hasland James Harvey, 25, Rail Road Laborer. born in county 'no', Elizabeth, 20, born in county 'yes'. remenber ages approx only on 1841. and if John was christned 7 nov 41, they were just recently married, so you might find marriage record 1840/41 ish

if you look at the first name on the 1871 page (your John is near the bottom) the name is John Harvey, 6, grandson, so turn the page back and the head of the Household is Elizabeth Harvey, 54, married, with sons george, 21 and Edwin, 19. i then searched my 1861 disc and found at Hasland, Head: Elizabeth, 44, Married, Railway laborers wife but seperated from husband, Son's, JOHN, 19, George, 11 and Edwin, 9, so i think that ties in the baptism and other bits.

Hello Jeanette, Wow Jeanette that was a very quick reply and very much appreciated, thank you. What I really need to find and know is Johns parents. The reason being family connections to the statue of William Edwin MP Chesterfield c1910,which stands outside the Derbyshire Miners Ass. HQ in Chesterfield. Its my only claim to fame, apart from being related to Sir ArthurSullivans brother Fred!!!!!

I cannot find my gg grandfather John Harvey's birth. I think he was born c1842 in Hasland,Derbyshire. I did find him on the 1881 Census aged 39 married to Lucy and a coalminer by trade. I would have expected his birth to have been registered in Chesterfield if born in Hasland. Can anyone help me in the right direction.
