Lee It won't tell you the mothers full name in the indexes but you could send for the birth certicate using the GRO reference that the indexes give, it will cost £7. I'm not sure if you have to prove you are a relative or something though if it is within the last so many years. Sam

reason i asked is cos most of my family comes from cleveland and they have the teesvalley indexes u can look for births deaths and marriages from 1837 to the present day and i thought they might have them where the child was born

If the child was registered under the fathers surname and you know this, you can look it up in the GRO indexes. Either free at a local records office or on the internet 1837online but this is a pay per view site. It won't tell you the mothers full name though, just her maiden name, if this is what you were hoping to find. Sam

Could someone please advice me on how I go about finding a birth around 15 years ago, for personel reasons I cant put names on here. I know the childs first name and the fathers name, but not sure of the mothers. I think the child was registered in the fathers surname. Hope I havent confused anyone, any help appreciated Leex
