A Yoemanry force of 3000 men was needed for the Boer War By virtue of an Army Order of 1901, the entire Yoemanry was designated --- Imperial Yeomanry (IY) this title lasted until the formation of the Territorial Force in 1908 when the the Imperial was dropped from County Yomanry Regiments. Coy is Company I.Y. is something Yeomanry could be Independant Yeomanry but not sure. |
