THE HISTORY GUILD BOOK CLUB - WORTH JOINING?

I just got my monthly copy of Family Tree and there is an ad for the History Guild Book Club. It seems very interesting and if you subscribe now you get the Ancestral Trails book free plus a mini digital camera! Does anyone belong to the Club? Is it worth joining or once you take your 5 books for 99p each (!) does it become expensive to stay a member? Some brill books in the offer I must say.

Well it says that you have to agree to purchase 4 books in the first year of membership. If the books they offer are as good as those in the add I cant see Id have a problem choosing one! (Oh, Ive always wanted Samule Pepys diaries and at 99p ..........) Perhaps some of you wiser bods could check out the website - www(.)applyfast(.)historyguild(.)co(.)uk Many thanks - my fingers are itching to get at some of them.

I have been a member for about six months and have had no problems. I admit I originally joined because of the 'offer' - ie 5 books for 99p each plus P&P (and the free camera). Because of the amount of interest in the club at the time, two of the books I ordered were out of stock so they sent me two £10 book tokens as compensation!! All they do each month is send you a statement and if you don't want the Editors Choice you simply ring them up or log on to their website and cancel. Yes you do have to order 4 books in the first year but there's such a good selection that shouldn't be a problem. SUE PS - the digital camera isn't too bad either!!
